WHAT MADE
YOU DECIDE TO START WRITING?
That’s a
tough one. I’ve written for as long as I can remember, but in more recent years
my writing was technical. I won a trip to Ukraine to be part of a mission team
from ICM (International Cooperating Ministries). While my husband and I were
there we met a man, Yuri, who had been an officer in the Soviet Navy. He went
home to Odessa with a friend to go to a baseball game. When the stepped off the
train, the friend’s sister shoved a Bible in Yuri’s hands. She risked her life
by doing this – just having a Bible could result in imprisonment. Yuri came to
Christ and later married the woman. When I got home, I had to put their story
on paper. It was my first effort in recent years at writing a novel and wasn’t
very good, but my mom read part of it and she pushed me to continue writing and
honing the craft. Since that novel, I haven’t stopped writing.
WHAT
AUTHORS HAVE INFLUENCED YOUR WRITING STYLE?
There are
so many who’ve been great influences that it’s difficult to pick just a few.
I’ve always been a voracious reader. In my younger years I read a lot of Janet
Daley books but in more recent years I’ve read Ted Dekker, Tosca Lee, Tess
Gerritsen, and many others.
TELL ME
ABOUT YOUR LATEST RELEASE.
DOWN &
OUT, Book One in the Desert Winds series, will be released January 21st. I
originally wrote this novel during NANO last year. It was a hot mess, and I tossed
the entire book and started over, but participating in NANO gave me the push I
needed to get the words on paper. It was a great experience and I hope to
participate again next year. The book is about a down on her luck publicist who
moves back home to Odessa, Texas and is thrust into a volatile job with a
handsome security consultant showing her the ropes when a strangers decides she
must be his, and he’s determined to win her love – at any cost.
WHAT IS THE
MOST INTERESTING THING YOU HAVE LEARNED FROM YOUR WRITING RESEARCH?
I had to do
some research on state laws for repossessions and car towing. Prior to
researching this, I had no clue how different the laws were from state to
state. I also did research on concealed carry permits and what states honor
permits from other states. For example, if you have a handgun concealed carry
permit in Texas, you are allowed to carry concealed in Nevada because Nevada
recognizes the Texas permit.
HOW DO YOU
LIKE TO SPEND YOUR TIME WHEN YOU'RE NOT WRITING?
I’m a voracious
reader, and I love to travel. We enjoy time on the beach and my stepson and I
love to ride any kind of roller coaster.
HOW CAN
READERS CONTACT YOU AND/OR LEARN MORE ABOUT YOU AND YOUR WRITING?
My website

have the new and improved site up very soon. I can also be found at
