Interview with Jodie Wolfe

Author Jodie Wolfe

What is your latest release?

My book that just released on September 15th is Wooing Gertrude. It first came out as an ebook and then on November 17th, my publisher will also make it available in print. It’s book three in my Burrton Springs Brides Series but also can be read as a stand-alone. Here’s a look at the back cover.

Enoch Valentine has given up finding peace for his past mistakes. He throws everything he has into being the new part-time deputy in Burrton Springs, Kansas while maintaining the foreman position at a local horse ranch. But when trouble stirs on the ranch, he questions whether he's the right man for either job.

Peace has been elusive for most of Gertrude Miller's life, especially under the oppressiveness of an overbearing mother. She takes matters into her own hands and sends for a potential husband, while also opening her own dress shop. Gertrude hopes to build a future where she'll find peace and happiness.

Will either of them ever be able to find peace?

A woman is shown on the cover with a parasol. A stage coach is also shown in front of a building. The seamstress with a knack for trouble wasn’t who the deputy envisioned.

Did you always want to be a writer?

I have. Ever since I was a little girl and had a school assignment of writing a poem in second grade. I wrote about my favorite thing at the time – Snoopy! Soon after, I was creating little stories and illustrating them, making little books.

Which of your books was your favorite to write? Why?

I’d have to say book one in this series, Taming Julia. Julia, or Jules, is such a fun, quirky character. She’s different than any other character I’ve created. She often had me laughing at the things she came up with.

What other hobbies do you enjoy besides writing?

I enjoy walking, reading, spending time with my husband, and knitting. I’ve knitted many things through the years – slippers, sweaters, blankets, dishcloths, vests, toys, etc. My husband found a guinea pig pattern, so I’ll be attempting that since it goes along with my new release.

Interview:

Did you always want to be a writer?

The short answer is no. The long answer is I’ve always been an avid reader, but in high school, I took a chemistry class and fell in love with the subject. So, I pursued a degree in chemistry and worked for years as a research assistant before having children. After two moves and two kids in high school, I taught chemistry. I retired after 10 years. That’s when I finally got the bug to write. I coauthored my first book in 2013 with Kendra Armstrong entitled Exploring the Faith of America’s Presidents. It was a devotional type book that is no longer in print. My first novel, Deadly Guardian, debuted in May, 2019.

What do you enjoy most about writing books?

That’s a hard question to answer because there are so many aspects about writing that I love. I enjoy seeing the story come together that’s in my mind. I enjoy the fellowship of other Christian writers. I enjoy brainstorming with other writers about my story and theirs. I enjoy learning more about the craft of writing. But I guess if I had to choose just one, it would be the joy of working with the Lord on a story and seeing it unfold. Many times, I come to a place in my writing where what happens next surprises even me! And I know it’s God taking over. It’s

How many books have you written?

To date, I’ve written one nonfiction book, five novels, and one novella that appeared in a novella collection. I’ve also contributed short stories to a dozen anthologies. My novels are divided into two series, the Trouble in Pleasant Valley series, and the Mac & Sam Mysteries series. I have three in the first series and two so far in the second with the third due out next year. I’m also writing a fourth book in the Pleasant Valley series that will come out next year.

      What is your latest release?

My latest release, August 22, is The Case of Mistaken Identity. It’s the second book in the Mac & Sam Mystery series. Mackenzie Love and Samantha Majors are the owners of a private investigation firm in Washington, Missouri, a small town outside of St. Louis. In this book, Mac has a look-alike that is in serious trouble which turns into a deadly problem for Mac as well! The first book in the series, The Case of the Innocent Husband came out last year, 2022, and the third book, The Case of the Stolen Memories, will be published in August, 2024. My hope is that my readers enjoy this series as much as I enjoy writing it.
